United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Zermatt Silver
My stealer wants £389 to repair this

I managed to clip the wing mirror of my FFRR whilst reversing into my drive. The mirror housing and glass appear to be undamaged but the black surround at the front of the mirror is cracked

To repair it, my local L-R stealer says he has to remove the mirror assembly, take out the glass and electric motor and fit it in a new housing and charge me £389 + VAT for the privilege. Anyone know whether the black surround can be replaced on it's own?

That price sounds about right for a LR dealer. Big Cry
Your only real way to save on this is to search the usual auction places for a new or used one and install yourself.
A local scrapie, near by with one in stock will be your cheapest solution. Thumbs Up

I would see if a local bodyshop can plastic weld it back together so long as the mechanism os working correctly then the plastic surround could probably be repaired to a decent standard possibly not totally invisible repair though There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I got one of these for £10.95 plus vat and post

http://www.famousfour.co.uk/new_parts/part_page.php?partID=12736

Only fits up to 2009 but might be worth a call to them and see if newer versions are available.......... was an easy job to fit, however maybe newer mirrors are put together differently.

I would get the part itself, and go to an indy, and ask them for an hours labour, and see how they get on with it. it a straightforward job. just insist you tell them its heated etc and to ensure the glass connectors get reconnected.
the trouble is with dealers they have to use a book to time jobs. therefore although it takes a certain amount of time, they have to charge you the book time. many customers are paying through the firm and don't quibble, but it puts off us normal punters. but something has to pay for the fancy showroom, and two girls that anwser the phone etc. I know people are wary of going away from the 'safety' of a dealer and warranty etc. but this is a 'safe' job.
Treat yourself to a few tanks of free fuel with the saving, after getting an indy repair .
do they still fold in etc?
