Strange 2 noices l322 2002 [solved]

Hi guys,
after 2 months of searching and testing new sideas every evening i have found cause of strange 2 noices.

1. Howling, very loud starting after about 120-130 km/h [70 - 85 mph]
- problem was in that i had no 3 mustache marked red on first picture.
in my cowl those mustaches was broken and cowl seal didnt stick to bottom side of the hood.
This slot between sealing and hood works like a trumpet Smile

2. Silent noice starting after about 80km/h [50 mph] , difficult to explain what kind of noice,
something like flag fluttering in the wind, anyway it was annoying to.

- the problem was in press stud Pillar A outside (black one)
studs are located at the bottom of Pillar A cover in slots. In my cover two of them was broken down and wasnt tight so hits socket in car. Solution was to replace those two broken studs.

I hope guys it help someday , someone.

Oh yes, thats exactly my (ex) noice no. 1
try to examine slot between cowl sealing and bottom side of your hood, there is a slot i believe makes this noice.
If u have broken mustaches (red mark) it's 100% this problem.
I have fxed this using 3 small angles from steel, painted black. Just screw it to cowl and no more noice.
Another option is to buy used not damaged cowl and replace it (easy).

yes, cowl looks fine but sealing in front of battery doesnt.
Is it properly mounted ? looks askew to me.
It has to be a wind problem, try to check slots between sealings and hood both of them have to adhere.

From the other hand, You can take a try and cover battery and opposite side with something (f.e. an old blanket, rag anything) and take a ride just to check is it right place to solve Your problem or not.

Just for reference ive made few photos of my car

battery side

fixed cowl

whole engine compartment
