Another National tyres bad experience

After swearing i'd never use National Tyres some years back following poor customer service on one occasion and damage to four rims on another occasion i foolishly went back to ask about a puncture repair.

The "technician" Laughing walks straight up to the car and from a distance of 6 foot states the tyre walls knackered.

I asked how he could tell and he said "i just can" Censored

Now as the lowest PSI its got to is around 20 as i check them weekly i failed to see how it could be. He then quotes me £200 for a budget make or £280 for a Toyo like fitted already.

As the Toyo's are £156 from Camskill i obviously told him where to go.

Anyway popped to a local tyre fitter and he's charged me £20 to fix the two slow punctures i'd acquired and surprise surprise neither tyre has any damage !

So thats the last visit i EVER make to National tyres...... I'd rather walk home and leave the car with no tyre at the side of the road! TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

In a previous life, I was a tyre fitter (came about through a spell of unemployment) so I fix/ fit my own tyres these days. I have access to a tyre fitting machine and balancer, and pay trade prices for tyres. Still bloody dear for 20"s though! 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

There Are good and bad everywhere, but big chain mechanics seem to be some of the worst out there. Every time you go to one of these places it feels as though they're trying to have your pants down.

If just ONE had a policy to be fair And honest, they would very quickly be VERY busy I think...... My Previous RR's!

I agree Hoppy. Went to Kwik Fit with a car for a puncture, was told I need four tyres as they are low on tread. Fronts were two weeks old... Shocked

Never use 'em again.

I used my local national tyres and had a fair puncture in one tyre and left it with them for repair. Went back an hour later (as they asked me to ) and they hadn't had a chance to fix it (not a big problem as it takes less than 5mins door to door) so I then went home again and returned an hour later at which point the manager brought the wheel out put it in my boot and when I asked the cost, he said forget it and didn't charge me. So for me, National gave an overall good service (they used to fix my punctures for free years ago and I assumed it was because when you did need a tyre, you would remember them first for what they had done and go to them for it, hence, the free puncture repair generates subsequent income). Steve

from experience most nationals do have targets to achieve and these are re-inforced towards the end of the month if they havnt been reached, so if you do have a puncture , go in on the beginning of the month when they arnt under pressure to sell....lol
