1. I'm about to take the FF on a long road trip to the Alps. To be on the safe side, I want to carry some oil with me. Any idea what type? My car is a 2010 3.6 TDV8. As a supplementary, how do I check the oil level on dash - the handbook says got to 'service menu' with the ignition on but engine off. Tried that and couldn't find a service menu!

2. Any ideas on how the DVD player works. The handbook is silent and I couldn't figure out any way of getting it to work when I looked earlier.

Hopefully someone out there will know and I apologise if I appear to be a bit of a numpty!

The 2010MY 3.6 TDV8 does not use the Service menu for the oil level, it's a dipstick, get under the bonnet!

When you mention DVD, is this in the front or rear? Do you mean the RSE screens with the DVD player in left compartment in the boot? Discovery 4 HSE

Oh I've been under the bonnet, no worries about that, but I found a passage in the handbook about having a facility to check the oil via the main TFT screen menu. If its not there, no worries.

There is no RSE, but the car does have a TV and there is a button which says 'DVD enter'. I'm assuming there is some facility to play a DVD whilst on the move - I have the dual screen set up, so passenger watches TV (or DVD?) and driver sees the Nav Map.

The correct oil is castrol magnatec A1 5w30 with the spec WSS-M2C913-B printed somewhere. (Ford spec ) There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
