ipod transmitter

In the boot of my FF I have an FM modulator (?) it sends the sound from the DVD to the radio so everyone in the car can listen to a film. It has a 3.5mm input so I bought a 5m male to male lead off ebay and was going to route this through to the front so I could plug in the ipod.

Just tested everything and it works but before I started routing the cable and taking the car apart I had a search around the garage as I had one of these

that I used in the disco.

Anyway I found it plugged it into the power in the centre cubby box, tuned in the radio and connected up the ipod, it actually gave a b etter sound that the hard wired version so I'll think I'll stick to this for now, just need a new battery for the remote Cool 2005 Range Rover Vogue with Supercharged Accessories

Hi Paul

Do you have a picture so I can check if I have this input on my 2007 VSE.

I currently have a male to male 3.5mm cable plugged into the Aux input below the rear seat heat vents, running the cable up under the centre console (between the seats) routing up to the ipod holder that I have clipped to the side of the touch screen area (as per picture- white cable) but your solution seems far tidier and better for security.

Cheers. Paul

I think it's an after market thing as my FF is a bit older than yours

Hi Paul,
The Veba thing is def aftermarket. That little one in your ebay link is great. I have one of those too - and before I got my silly lightning plugged iPhone, it was a constant travel companion. Worked great in any rental car and charged the iPhone. For less than many knock off charging adapters alone...
I also have this thing

Cost 10+ times as much and works much worse - and no charging function.

If an FM modulator sounds better than hardwired, you have an issue, though. FM loses a not insignificant bit of the spectrum at both ends.

It is the easiest way to pipe in sound, tho.

Louder always sounds better. Thats why A-B tests need to be carefully match. Ive noticed my ipod is quieter than the FM radio. That may explain it.
