I figured as much daveo. Rolling with laughter

My upgrade project will deffo show you how to up spec to the next level, however i gotta tell you that you won't be able to integrate any 2010 stuff with it.

The reason for this is that up to 2010 the CAN bus was 29 Bit extended addressing, but after 2010, 11 bit standard addressing is used and never the twain shall meet.

In car PC's is interesting, presumably you are looking at centrafuse. I have an on going project to introduce LR diagnostics using it. 2003 4.4 HSE

Just some guy from the far East, who bought a Hawkeye and posted a really honest review about it on another forum. I was so impressed by his genuineness and honesty about his ultimate dissapointment, i exchanged his hawkeye for an MSV-2 EXTREME system for him FOC.

Hey Colin, did I mention that I bought this really stale packet of Cheese 'n' Onion crisps last week? I was so looking forward to that lovely rich taste but instead all I got was a sort of leatherey experience on my tonge. Anyway, any chance you might want to swap my stale crisps for a MSV-2 ??

Those loom prices really are a killer, no doubt you clocked the regular 1300 quid listed option.
Where on earth do these folk make these prices up from. Rolling with laughter
I should be able to sort you out and set you up on a much more realistic path as i do this project. Thumbs Up

Oh yeah, I clocked the £1300 option. That Sir would appear to be for a service exchange Navigation DVD unit alone. Add another £500 if you want one outright !!

The kit. Ah yes. Yours for the bargain price of £2342 plus VAT which does not include fitting or enabling. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Methinks a BBS kit will be something to order once available please Mr. Green

By the way, I love your use of the word "Folk". I can think of a rather more colourful collective noun right now though. They really do charge like Rhinos. When I was talking to Nick about this kit even he was chuckling almost uncontrollably and he's very well accustomed to it.

All the best

Dom

Sat nav is especially expensive, it's the same everywhere. I was once quoted £3.5k for retro fitting basic (business) navigation to a BMW 6 series. I ended up buying a nav computer and GPS ariel from ebay for £90 (screens are already fitted). Fitted the units myself in half an hour and bobs your uncle. Sat nav for £90!

A Dvd rom costs about £8 to make. The price of them is scandalous. My Previous RR's!

Awwww Comeonnn Dom.
I see you read that post too LOL
It was really really really sad, This poor chap, really fell for all the promotional promise / glitz and was landed like a total kipper. What amazed me was how he started his review so positively, but at the first sign of any probing for actual detail, he instantly fessed up to how dissapointed he really was, which i thought took real guts to do.

Anyway, moving on, Yea according to TLO, Folk really do regularly pay that sort of amount apparantly and don't notice the Rhinos at all. Go figure.

Having personally met him, i can easily imagine his un controlled chuckling possibly being un nerving to some, but then be fair, every job has it's perks Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2003 4.4 HSE

@bbs spy, sir, is there an easy economic way of connecting to the ecu of a 2005 FFRR with a touch screen sat nav so i can reset faults and activate drl's or door mirrors that fold when the car is locked etc etc....the earlier l322's with the ibus system seem to have a cheap solution but those of us with the most system seem yo have to get very expensive gear...awaiting your superior knowledge... ... - .- -.

Even the 2009 Models still have an I-Bus in them scarey Whistle Whistle

Seats, steering wheel switches, PDC, Rain sensor, body control, Light control and most importantly the clock all remain as was. 2003 4.4 HSE

Nope
That was LIN bus to dual resistive ladder although i did add a spur circuit so i could duplicate operation of the 5 way clusters on both sides of the wheel.
I did also build in an optional 4 input rolling code encoder and decoder circuit and feed the resultant data stream through a 433 MHZ transmitter and receiver for the Paddle shift switches with a CAN output from the micro controller i am using on the final output of the decoder, so i can interface directly with the gearbox ECU over CAN bus to shift gears when the paddles are pressed. 2003 4.4 HSE

Of course daveo Rolling Eyes

But there are only 24 hours in each day and i seem to be using most of them already Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

My stumbling block with the D4 to D3 wheels project at the moment is with the resistors for the Back light LED's. I managed to find some LED's with the right color frequency to match the rest of the vehicles back lights, albeit i need 2 in each place, but they are really low voltage and to drop the 12 V feed enough for them the resistors have to dissipate quite a lot of heat, so i need to heat sink them with a flood plain on both sides of the PCB design. I did do a design with this and all the required vias, but sadly it seems my Gerber files did not have it on and my last prototype boards had the vias but not the flood fill so they were no good. I really do need a decent Gerber viewer Big Cry

For the L322, i am really hoping to be able to cheat a bit and save some effort as the CCF settings for the wheel controls does offer a CAN bus option, which is what is selected on later L322's
see for yourself here on this CCF file example
http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/photos/CCF_disco3_new.htm

I know that the IHU which reads and uses this CCF, as no doubt does the EMS (for cruise control) does indeed use this CCF and does get the info from the CAN, but the wheel switches are definately I-Bus and it is only translated to CAN using the Gateway or Ipack to do so.

If my theory holds water, and we are lucky enough that the 2010 wheel produces CAN event data in the same format, by grafting its output directly to CAN instead of going through a Gateway, it may well just work as is.
Dont expect the flappy paddles though as the EMS ECU has to be programmed for that and able to send the message over CAN to the Auto box. But i might be able to knock up a CAN only module to do that which will still be a lot simpler than re inventing the wheel.

Well the switches part at least Rolling Eyes

Don't worry nbunney, i feel like that till i have had my first and possibly second coffee anyway. Rolling with laughter 2003 4.4 HSE
