I changed inner track rods and track rod ends last week, together with new boots and clips. Very straightforward. After fitting, I started getting what I thought was worn suspension rattles which got worse by the day.
Got underneath it today, removed the boots to check the spindles. One had come loose by 2 or 3 turns. I must not have tightened it sufficiently and when it susbsequently when for alignment, they must have loosed it during adjustment.
The moral is make sure you tighten them up properly. A few swings on my big 18th adjustable today has them fully tight and I will monitor. Another costly wheel alignment also required.
