Tracker

Thinking about getting a Tracker device fitted to the 5.0 S/C after I've picked it up this weekend. Any recommendations on the forum? Advice very much appreciated Smile

Oddly enough when I asked my insurance company about fitting a tracker they told me my premiums might go up ... and not even an explanation as to why Shocked ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

I have fitted one to my L322. I started a thread on it somewhere. Very cheap to run and I can remotely disable the car. I am buying kits for this in from China and can supply these with lifetime online tracking for £54.50. It required mods to the fusebox in the boot for easy fitment. I have a spare fusebox so could probably do these mods on an exchange basis.

It's very important that only an approved installer fits a tracker as this can effect your warranty etc... There are various options out there but I always use Gary at www.selectautosystems.co.uk he knows his stuff and works for all the landrover main dealers Thumbs Up

For sure on a newish car the warranty will be a concern. The tracker I fitted wouldn't be insurance approved either. It is just a cheap way of seeing where your car is, listening in if you want to, and switching the car off. I see it as a cheap insurance to help out if the car is stolen. My car is from 2002 so the warranty isn't an issue for me.
I used the online tracking on mine recently when I had parked in the mid-stay car park at Stansted and forgot to note which area I was in. A quick call to the car and it texted me back a link to a map with the position.

I am not interested in fitting these for people. If anybody wants one I will supply instructions on what I did and exactly how to set the unit up, as well as the tracker, sounder, vibration sensor, a PAYG sim and optionally a modified fusebox on exchange basis (for a small fee) This is basically to make it a bit easier for fellow enthusiasts who want to do the same as I have done. I have done the same on 911uk as I have fitted one to my Porsche. The hard work is in working out the wiring, once that is done fitting them is pretty easy.

When we bought our Range Rover 3 years ago it was already fitted with a Trakker device. We took over the contract and it has given us a 15% discount on the insurance premiums.

Sorry if this goes OT. First, when recently enquiring re Tracker discount on insurance, it reduced the premium by only about £25 (obviously reduced ins premiums are not the only reason to fit).

Secondly, our SC recently had the Tracker disabled at the MD because they felt it might be the source of a battery drain and as it wasn't on ongoing subscription, they cut the power. I think they physically cut something on the Tracker to disable it (bona fife Tracker device too). In fact, the battery drain was nothing to do with the Tracker device. Will it likely be beyond repair?

they should have just removed the in line fuse Ryan, if thats the case then re-enabling the tracker will be easy. ... - .- -.
