LPG fuel gauge confusion

Hi my ffrr has a romano system installed with the fuel gauge pictured below. I am a little confused as I thought that when the red led above the R lights up it meant the LPG tank was empty and the car has switched to petrol. Somebody has now told me that the red led means there is still LPG in the system and it's running on LPG not petrol.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Doesn't the "R" mean RESERVE? i.e. it is running on LPG but it's very low.

And then which fuel you are running on depends on the light at the bottom:-

Bottom Left = G (Gas)
Bottom Right = Petrol

So when it's cold it should start on petrol and then switch over to "G" as it warms up.

That's how I would interpret it........ 2006 4.2 SC

Not got LPG, but I'd too go with Skot, R stands for Reserve I'd imagine. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for the replies yeh I guess that makes sense. I think the red light is not such a great idea as it implies tank empty, much better would be to keep that light as green so there were 5 green lights. 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 v8 LPG, Java Black, 22' Hawke Alloys, Black Beast

Got a stag 4000 system on mine, row of 4 green lights but the last one turns red when LPG level in tank is low.

Still OK to drive though, when it gets towards the 'empty' point it starts beeping at me, and if I continue to drive, switches over to petrol until LPG tank has been filled.

the indicators are way off IME (can be expected with a float in a toroidal horizontal tank)

I get lots of miles out of mine once it goes on to the red , it'll trip back onto petrol at a low pressure detected on the reducer anyway, nothing to be concerned about , just think about refilling once into the red and you'll be ok.

Just to make the confusion complete;
Mine has a BRG and if she runs on petrol the red light is burning. After a while, when the engine is warm enough, she will show 1 to 4 green lights, when she switches over to lpg.

I have a OMVL system on my Bimmer with the same gauge...

R is reserve...once it switches back to petrol when the LPG is empty it will beep at you continuously and the lamp will flash...cancel beeping by pressing the changeover button to switch to petrol permanently...then fill up with LPG and press the button to put it back to changeover mode.
