Hi, attached is an image of the lower tailgate. 2 things:

A. Should something be in what looks like an empty screw hole?

B. Note the internally unpainted grey plastic trim that finishes off the external of the lower tailgate. Should that not be painted as I'm sure the original one was painted?

@ Pete - Yes, the outer piece looks to have been perfectly painted (it's a new lower tailgate).

@Stan - I hadn't clocked your pictured tailgate before. Sorry if I'm being a bit slow on the uptake, are you wondering if a hole (beautifully neat though it is ) has been drilled in the wrong place ( your ref to tailgate damper strut)?

I dont have a hole on my 2008my, but i did retrofit the strut. Dont think you are technically missing anything as it wasnt fitted to the earlier years. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

your new tailgate is a 2010 onwards model and standard fit from then was the 'tailgate damper' ..the hole is there ready made for the kit, see this thread and all will become clear..
