supercharged l322 radiator removal without movin viscous fan

After many many threads and videos of how to remove the radiator on my supercharged l322 I gave up and bought the specialist tool from powerful uk it came today so I set about to remove the rad and fit new one.

It was hard to use the spanners on my own you really require a second pair of hands in my opinion and they weren't available so as it wasn't raining for a change I decided to see if could take it off by removing slam panel which was simply nuts and bolts and then remove the hose and coolers as shown in the video and with a bit of fidgeting it came out quite easily only to find that new radiator is the wrong one!

Talk about frustrating! So rung radiator place up and explained their error despite telling them registration snd engine etc. They still managed to send me the wrong part! Gotta get the correct one to me asap so can get my truck back on the road! !

Quick question guys I bought 10 litres of concentrated coolant from euro car parts bit overkill I know but ill have some spare! Is it okay to use on the supercharged engine as a friend advised had to be pink coolant due to engine being ally? Mine is purple so will be ok to use when diluted down with water will look pink I imagine so does it have the chemicals to stop ruating engine as my friend mentioned or is he pulling my leg!

I just can't believe all the threads etc saying you cant do it with rad fan shrowd in place! Well I have so if you want to know how give me a pm.

I'm not a specialist on this (my coolers on the 4.2 got F. U. C. K. E. D due to idiots putting pure water in) but I understand that any coolant that is suitable for alu engines will do, HOWEVER, mixing the LR (apparently biodegradable) coolant with the normal (usually green) coolant, can result in sludge forming or so I have been told.

So if there is still original coolant in the system then I suggest to use the same coolant to fill the system. If the system is empty or virtually empty (I doubt whether that is possible without really making an effort but not a specialist on this system so don't really know) then you can probably put any alu engine coolant in.

As for colour, I believe the LR coolant (very expensive) is orange more than pink but not sure of that either.

Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Unless you know you are in a soft tap water area dilute OAT with de-ionised water. If you put crap water in with it you might as well not bother using it as it wipes out the benefits.

Yes but got another headache now leaking rad sorted seems have another leak coming from water pump so will have to tackle that as well!

Anybody know which way you have to persuade the viscous fan nut as it has to come off to get at the water pump?

You will need two skinny fan spanners 32mm (Halfords do them - but they are only just long enough! - they also do a 32mm combination spanner which is longer) if it is on there tight, and it undoes the wrong way - clockwise. What a bummer to have done the clever bit and now having to take it all apart again.

Having a diesel I have removed my viscous fan, makes no difference to temperature, but not sure you can do that on an S/C. .

I have bought the fan tools but im not doing it in the wet myself so my local specialist which happens to be my friend is going to do it for me!

Anybody replaced the water pump on a supercharged? Did you use genuine landrover parts or other parts? Any information would be great!
