?? RR TDV8 - Average speed 12 MPH + Average MPG 16.5 ??

Morning all,

I have a 2007 RR TDV8 with 80k on the clock, recent Terraclean & new intercooler hoses and a full service history with Land Rover (due an Inspection 1 next month).

I only do about 120 miles per week and this is 99% going to and from work, stuck in traffic and rarely going above 30 MPH.

My average speed over the last 4 weeks is just 12 MPH and this translates to an average 16.5 MPG - I'm assuming this is normal given the low average MPH Question

If it is then so be it as I didn't buy the car as a small city run around Mr. Green ** 2007 FF RR Vogue SE TDV8 in Zermatt Silver **

Ouch! That's pretty poor, especially in a diesel. It's to be expected though. Stop / Start traffic really knocks fuel consumption and adds enormous wear and tear versus cruising.

For that commute, I would buy a £400 Ford KA and use the FF for the nice trips! Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

Wow thats one of the lowest diesel averages I have heard of. But anything is possible if you are sitting in traffic a lot. Still at-least your sitting in a nice place. Thumbs Up

I did think it was right as the "urban" MPG quoted is 19 and I doubt "urban" is an average MPH of 12, I believe it's more like an average of 19 MPH.

I'm happy with my explanation anyway Thumbs Up ** 2007 FF RR Vogue SE TDV8 in Zermatt Silver **

Diesels are much worse than patrols for fuel economy in constant stop/start traffic - you might not see much difference from a SC (another potential member of the 5.0 club?)

I'm sure you are already aware, but with that kind of driving, make sure you take her for a good 30m+ drive at fast motorway speeds (fully warmed up and >2,000 rpm) every month or you may get EGR and DPF issues (although I'm not sure if 2007 TDV8's have a DPF) 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Also, much fuel is lost whilst changing gear - have a go at using it in manual on your commute and see if it changes ?
Your average for your kind of driving doesn't surprise me, as the official quoted figures are the result of artificial tests, not the real world.
You must have been on a decent run in the car - what was it like then ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
