Tyre Pressures

Can anyone confirm the correct tyre pressures for 20" OEM FFRR wheels on an 2006 AJV8. The handbook I have doesn't list the 20" wheel as I don't think it was standard when mine was built. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Mine's an 2008, but I've got 36 front, 42 rear on 20s if I remember correctly.

There should be a sticker on the drivers door trim but I'm running 36 front and 40 rear if its any help.

Tyre pressure depends on size, type and use as much as anything else. if you tow a lot you should to put a couple of pounds extra in the rears. If you go off road you might want to let a few pound out all round (depends very much on terrain).

Check the sidewall of the tyre for the menfacturers recommendations. Land Rovers recommendations relate to the tyres supplied when new and may not be relevent to aftermarket tyres.

Those figures relate only if the car is fully loaded. I made the same mistake. If you check the sticker for 4 adults plus baggage you should have 33 in front and 36 in rear. Now as I'm mostly in the car on my own I have set my fronts to 31 and rears to 34 makes a huge difference to the ride as wil recommended at 33 front and 36 rear. 42 in rear is far too hard. Thanks for the info. I have Pirreli Scorpions and all week it is just me with the wife and kids at the weekend and no towing, mix of urban streets and dual carriageway for 25 mile commute.

I will check the drivers door to see if I have a sticker.

Main reason is to check I am running at a proper pressure so as not to incur premature wear and make sure they are at a safe pressure. Also want to see if checking the tyre pressures will improve the occasional activation of the DCS on the rear wheel when going round some roundabouts.

I always thought that the pressures on the side wall were the maximum that the tyre is rated for but may have Mis-understood There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

The sidewall pressure indicator is, as you say, a maximum pressure, sorry I didn't make that clear.
