What to do? (Prospective New Owner Musings) | |
Hi All,
I can't believe it, but I'm doing what I thought I wouldn't be doing at this time: I'm looking at replacing my car.
Why? Well, having come from a Defender, Disco 4, RR Evoque and RRS, I took a break from LR and bought a Porsche 911 (2010 Carrera S). It is an amazing car and I like it very much…but my Family don't. I work from home, so no commute and my wife refuses to do road trips in it because it isn't as comfortable as my LR's were (Defender excepted).
I'm loathe to part with it, I got it with 4500 miles on it, I've added 2000 miles in 10 months. I have an X-Trail that I use for everyday menial tasks since I don't like to use the Porsche in shopping areas, poor weather etc.
So my wife and kids - and parents - reckon I should accept the box for 911 ownership is ticked and get back to a "proper car" that can be used anywhere.
Having tried - and enjoyed - the rest of the LR range, I am now considering a FFRR. Ideally, a 2011/2012 Autobiography or good spec low mileage Westminster. I've had a very brief test drive in one, liked it and left the Dealer with what I'd be looking for so that he might source one.
Question to you good folks then: what is the FFRR like to live with? Any comments on wallowing around corners compared to the 2011 RRS? (I couldn't decide if it was better or worse on the test drive).
I would then need to see if it would fit in my garage - I live in a cul-de-sac and road parking is out of the question and my driveway is not ideal either so it would have to fit in my garage. My Disco 4 did with roof racks, spotlights and tow hitch but the length available is only 5m.
Anyway, if you have any ownership advice, that would be great, thanks
