Rescued from Scrappies............

The FF may be giving my wallet a pounding just now but I scored an absolute steal recently from the local scrap merchant - he'd taken in an ex demonstration wood pellet boiler that had been in a builders merchants showroom that had been closed down. No instructions and a few bashes to the outer casing and one or two bits and pieces missing -. negotiated it down to just £300. Cut a long story short it is now installed and working like a dream, spent a little bit getting the missing parts and upgraded the controls so I can now monitor the system via my pc (and hopefully phone when I get it set up). Spent about £1800 on the upgrades, but to buy the boiler new is close on £12k. To cap it all, it is also on the approved list of biomass boilers for Renewable Heat Incentive and because I used an MCS accredited installer to put it in, it should qualify for the payments - looking at about £3.5k pa back for the next 7 years - all index linked, plus I should half my heating costs over the old oil boiler. Only down side will be having to manually fill the hopper every few days, and maybe more often in winter. Not very often something goes my way but this is shaping up to be a real bargain, even without the RHI. No doubt the FF will soon use up any surplus............

You are tempting providence posting this story.

As we are all aware, buried deep inside all FF's is the 'available money' ECU. This detects the amount of available money, and then develops a fault to the required value to empty the 'available money' pot.

I know................ given me a wee taster this last 3 weeks!

Was a bit scary ripping out the oil boiler without knowing if the new one would actually work. Some bean counter (apologies to anyone who is an accountant.........) obviously didnt know what it was, or what it was actually worth. Quite impressed that the manufacturer in Germany can access it over the net and he spent about 15 mins setting it up before we fired it. Any future issues they will be able to fault find remotely - now if only JLR could do this!!!

Was the one across from the College - Williamson's. Pure luck, a mate of mine had been in with some old car batteries and he spotted it sitting in the corner and gave me a shout. Had been sitting for a while, we started at £1k and worked our way downwards as he just wanted shot of it.

Nice deal Thumbs Up

Love the idea of the "money ICU". It is too true. Now, if IID could deal with that...

As for JLR talking directly to the car, we'd all end up with, "It's Censored , mate." on the centre screen. Mr. Green
