Has any one used these chaps and been offered what the website said, I admire their business plan but yet to find someone who has achieved the internet valuation, as per Mick's recent experience it seems not. 'I need to sell my car and will take anything for it' seems to be their maxim Thumbs Up

WBAC is now owned by BCA
WWAC is now owned by Manheim Auctions

....so both have a clever plan of putting vehicles through their operation.

A mate of mine works for one of them. They need to buy your car, HPI it, pay the sales guy (peanuts), pay for the premises, vehicle movement / logisitcs and auction fees (albeit it this is now an internal cost) etc. The vehicle then goes under the hammer at auction to the "trade". So yes, they need to buy cheaply as they have costs to cover and if they are selling at trade the vehicle needs to be cheap!

The upside is that they generally pay more than a dealer part ex, you don't get tyre kicking dross turn up on your doorstep, no test drive requests, no test drive insurance debates, no chance of being kicked out out of your own car at the dual carriageway roundabout at gunpoint and a guarantee that the funds are paid straight into your bank account.

I remember when selling the TD6, three "geezers" turning up with 2 Rottweilers in the back of their R plate 5 series touring they arrived in. It was ok but it wasn't the most enjoyable viewing I've ever done!

I agree the fault picking to drive the price down is a real rub but it's no worse than someone haggling on your drive is it? 2006 4.2 SC

Skot, as per my post I applaud their business plan and I was unaware of the owners which now makes sense,. My point was that the say 'no quibble' etc but always run the vehicle down. With a bit of prep a private individual could achieve more Thumbs Up

Oh I agree with you totally and I am not defending them in any way, it's pretty sharp practice to give a price to get you through the door and then knock you down so much. The sales guys are targeted on auction hammer price less vehicle purchase price less costs so you can see how and why it happens. Although I guess if they said what they were willing to pay upfront nobody would ever turn up! Also remember that many customers' lie, my mate has had many customers bringing in their "mint, one owner" cars only for it to be a total shed that you wouldn't let your dog sleep in.

The customer profiles are interesting, I thought it would be badly maintained, under serviced vehicles where the owner is in financial trouble and there is an element of that but many of the cars are from people who just don't want the hassle (e.g. following a death in the family) and many of the car are from very well to do backgrounds where the asset simply is not needed any more. My mate picked up a 3 year old RRS last week for peanuts, the owner was emigrating to Oz and needed out quickly.

If ever you go to BCA, look out for the CCT Select and CC Trade Sales; these are all WBAC stock! Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

Skot , I agree, however had a motor trader friend of mine take a 'mint' car to them as a trial. It was unapproachable. They tried to beat him down even on that, However I understand their mentality Thumbs Up

I'd bet that the "salesmen" are targeted on reducing the "web quoted" price Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Yes, they are targeted on chipping down the web price are and there are some pretty awkward questions to be had with their manager if it is deemed that "stock" has been paid for over the odds.

It's far from a bed of roses I think! 2006 4.2 SC

Took the wife's Toyota there, with a web offer of £3,200.

Walked away when he started talking £2,100, on a car that was perfect, other than a few stone chips, and a tiny dent in a wing...

They never offer the website price as they are salesmen and whatever difference they get back compared to website they get a decent chunk of, and they aim to get at least 20% of that back.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Not true. As per my previous post, they get a %age of the profit made by the company. So buying cost less auction proceeds less costs. A typical sales guy commission is around £20 - £40 GROSS.

And if you buy a car and it makes a loss at auction you pay the %age back.

Not a very decent chunk in my book.......

The best thing to do if you don't like them is not go near them! 2006 4.2 SC

We recently sold a 4 year old A4 Allroad to WBAC, knocked £120 off the internet valuation due to 2 alloys needing refurbed and the price we got was still way over what the local Audi dealer was offering as a trade in - nearly £1500. Was a pain free process, sales guy was very pleasant and there was no pressure and the option to walk away. Think it was actually much easier when the shiny new car wasnt there to help sway any decision.

I'd defo try them again in the future.

In the end saved nearly £5k, which promptly disappeared on optional extras but got exactly the spec we wanted.

We sold our Freelander 2 with 3.2 Petrol engine for the internet quote from WBAC
No issues, got the car taken over in 5 minute without any price reduction.
The next best offer from another trader was £1500.- lower.
