Wheel wobble too!

Hi, I mentioned on another link an issue I have with wheel wobble. Just driven back through France and nothing fell off which was a bonus, but it does seem to be getting worse.

The issue only seems to occur when driving 70 or over (in France obviously)! In the straight ahead position the steering is fine (possibly a very slight wobble but I could be imagining it) and when steering right all is well. However, when steering slightly left above 70 the wheel starts to wobble/vibrate rapidly. Its is possible to turn through the vibration if that makes sense and straightening has the same effect.

When driving over uneven roads I have noticed a clonk that seems to come from the right front also, and so I took the car into a high street tyre fitters for a free suspension and brake check. They advise that there is nothing visibly wrong with the front suspension and no issues with callipers binding which I find odd!

I will book into my local Indie, but any ideas of what it could be?

Thanks very much for the tip, guess I'll have to point it out to them. Is there anything else worth doing at the same time, upper suspension arms for instance, or can I get away with just the lowers.....still paying for the fuel bowser to drive across France....managed 20mpg which isn't bad really.

It will be the ball joint on the end of number 9, but on the right hand side one.. The car is so heavy it will need to be jacked at the front to get it to wobble by hand. I would get this done first before looking for more "trouble"!!! Thumbs Up

Thanks thats perfect, I'll get a 2nd opinion from my local Indie, might have a go myself. Picked the car up from high street KF, they couldn't find anything wrong with suspension, but think it could be the rack, couldn't check any of the bushes apparently...some suspension check that was then. They couldn't hear clonk...although its as clear as day to me on our lovely roads.

Thanks for your help.
