I got a value service from Shields once. They do the absolute minimum and even suggested they used different oil to the "proper" service.

I thought what service it has was dictated by what it had last time ?

I don't like the sound of that one little bit either they are a main dealer and cary out the service schedule they are meant to or they are not

I ran up against this whilst looking for a 07 plate TDV8, found one with 72,000 miles and FULL main dealer service history. I rang the dealer and asked specific questions about fluid changes and found the FULL service history was a joke... It had had "economy" services it's entire life!!!!!! There was nothing in the service book to indicate this....

^^^ the service strategy doesn't apply to the value service. They only do the minimum.

^ Dad bought a van from a company my uncle worked for. They would buy new vans, put 100000km on them in a year, then sell them on and get new ones. They always bought from the same main dealer and had the dealership do all there servicing. Dad went to change the oil and do a general checkup after getting the van. There were still factory stickers indicating that the van had the ORIGINAL oil and oil filter after 100000km. The company had been charged for a service(with oil change) every three months for the year. Seems it had been going on for a long time... |
