Oil - its not never ending but the current levels are a HUGE value, again Scotland has a greater economy than just oil but no wants the oil argument because they say it will run out - nobody disputes that but until then it would be a huge economic boost to an already financially capable nation. Even within uk the oil is going to run out the difference being Westminster wouldn't be pocketing the cash, in fact globally it will run out and alternatives are needed, the referendum won't change that and it is a poor argument

Norwegians get paid 3x Scots because things cost 3 times as much, you should know how much a coffee costs there. its not expensive to Norwegians because their pay is also higher - economy of scale.

I understand that. The reason I raised it was to highlight the fact that it's yet another spurious comparison that has no substance in reality.

Scottish shipbuilding would have died long ago without defence contracts. South East Asia builds pretty much every large commercial vessel of consequence.

If you want to be in NATO, you must be prepared to have nuclear weapons on your soil as and when required. Given that the Yes campaign have already set a deadline for removing Trident, you will be vetoed straight off.

The EU have stated in crystal-clear terms that Scotland, as a successor state, will have to reapply to the EU (you have surely read the Viviane Reding letters, heard what the president of the Commission said - entry for Scotland would be "very difficult, if not impossible"?). Scotland would not meet the financial/economic requirements, does not have a central bank, does not have its own currency. New states need unanimous approval from every other state - how do you think Belgium and Spain will vote?

Oil - the oil is not Scotland's, it belongs to the UK. Even on a full geographical share (which you have zero chance of getting), it will not save an independent Scotland.

Experts - list them please. I'd happily list all the independent experts who are on record as saying it's madness, but we'd be here a very long time.

Sorry I missed this question, if I had to pay an increase in tax and it was spent directly on the people of Scotland I have no issue with that. Although there is no reason with Scotland's revenue that tax increases are needed and they have already said there is no need and are no plans to do so.

edit - Scotland already fares bad under Westminster, can only have the gov't the majority, namely England, vote for. Note there is no discontent toward the English people in there it is simply based on numbers nothing more. Hence I use the word Westminster as my dislike is Westminster rule not any other country.
