Well, if the Scottish economy is going to crash, and monetary union is ruled out, I figure that means high class malt whisky will get cheaper based on the exchange rate. Shame I don't get a vote |

If you value your country, please actually do some basic economic research. Look at the numbers the Scottish government provides. Do you understand how the markets will view an independent Scotland, a tiny new state not part of any international groupings, threatening its former partner and neighbour with default, with no plans, no currency and no lender of last resort? You'll be glad of the kilts because otherwise you'd be bending over and dropping your trousers an awful lot. |

Really? On the contrary I have a very good understanding but unlike you I can stand on my feet without needing to throw insults or belittle to try make my point as it doesn't need them. As for no offence, really? saying doesn't make it so, disappointing. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts |

Ok, so we will be better off than rUK. But where will the extra money come from to fund our deficit? If the Yes campaign could answer that, I could be convinced about voting yes, but no one can... But there is a certain appeal of binning the house of lords, HS2, London sewer upgrade, Trident renewal etc Last edited by Mikey on 9th Sep 2014 7:41pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Carney's loyalties lie with the UK he is not an independent authority. personally I think a separate pound is better as I have said, but if the vote is yes just watch how fast they change tact when they realise they cannot hide the fact they would need it to help themselves. The current deficit is funded by all of the uk but it is not all of the uk's debt, Scotland pays billions in interest on ruk debt a debt they will have to service alone even after Scotland takes it proportion. You really think Cameron, Clegg and Milliband would drop everything and race to Scotland to campaign (up till now they rudely didn't think it important enough) unless they realised yes was possible and know full well what THEY have to lose. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts |

Understand it better than anyone? I'd certainly understand it far better if the entire future of my nation was at stake. I don't want to see the union end - it serves all its constituent parts enormously well, they have a far greater impact together than apart, we are largely the same people sharing a very small island (plus the other bit).

From the billions we waste on trident, the billions we waste servicing ruk debt interest payments, from keeping Scotland's revenue in Scotland, not going to Westminster, from the taxes we generate, from oil income in the longer short term ( yes it will run out but Scotland is a leader in inventions and all oil is running out everyone needs to find an alternative not just us) 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts |

I think this thread highlights the situation here at the moment. People have their opinions and arguments either way and never the twain shall meet.

You appear to imply anyone whose opinion differs from yours doesn't understand, hasn't read, is perhaps neither business nor financially educated or experienced. Tell me what you know of me, of my background, of my education, of my understanding and intellect - the answer is nothing because these are points I have not told you, that you do not know and yet you assume I am unenlightened because your interpretation or wishes differ from mine. I like Scotland too, for that matter I like England, Ireland and Wales but the union is no longer fit for purpose. enough with the damaging divisions nonsense, independence doesn't make divisions people do. I have family in England, Argentina and France, I am not some stupid loyal rosy eyed romantic. There is tension and dislike between uk and Argentina but I like the argentine people they are not all their government the same goes for Westminster. Alliances, friendships and partnerships are broken not by a country seeking independent control over itself but by people, I for one will not change my opinion on friends nor family based on their government or its actions or the outcome of a referendum and neither I hasten to add will millions of others, life will go on, there will be trade, there will be common ground and their will be friendship. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts |

There are huge, fundamental, unavoidable questions which the Yes campaign has either ignored, glossed over or failed to answer. Economic facts are economic facts. If this was any other political campaign, it would have been wholly discredited from the first week. They have failed abjectly in preparing an adequate plan.
