My worry is the needs of the country/countries vs the needs of the politicians.

Alex Salmon goes from being a local politician to prime minister/president/king or whatever an independent Scotland has.
Cameron knows his party isn't as popular north of the border as it is south of it. He'll have an easier time getting a majority without Scotland.

Cameron might get rid of a few million people who don't vote Tory which would be good in the future but as a politician he only cares about today and maybe tomorrow and there for doesn't want to be the man who lost Scotland it would destroy his career instantly . 2008 MY Supercharged

Good. As the Americans would say, I'm glad he has "some skin in this fight."

On this side of "the pond" it's not even registering, however most people here think Scotland, along with Ireland are "part of England", and Wales are what you see swimming off the coast.

People's ignorance of geography never fails to astound. A lot of people think Switzerland is in Scandinavia.

By the way, I'd love to visit Canada. I've visited some of the other states of the USA, but never Canada.

Here, I'll whet your appetite. I just got back from a four day off road adventure with the local Land Rover group. I don't take the FFRR, rather my Disco 1. I'm in British Columbia (west coast) and yes, both of these were taken ON proper trails.
