IID tool.

I might take the plunge and get me on of these bad boys......

I have mostly been anti home diagnostics in the past but would like to have a fiddle now and then.

A couple of questions for those in the know, which may have been answered elsewhere but here goes

1. Can it be made to cover 2 vehicles
2. afaik the interface is via the nav screen on the FFRR, does anyone know how it works on the D4 with no nav.

Basically I'm looking to turn on the park heating remote function on the D4 and also cover basic diagnostics, which i know it will do but not sure how it works on the D4.

Cheers. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

The Bluetooth version works through an iPad3 (or later) (and the information screen on the dash panel not the Nav screen) for the FFRR so presume it would do the same for a D4. I think it can also be used with an Android device. The GAP website will confirm.

The non bluetooth works through the dash panel on the FFRR. John

Just had a search and found that yes the new BT iid tool will indeed do both the ffrr and the disco4 in one.

Looks like I will need 2 licenses if I want to edit the ccf files on both, but could get one license for the D4 and still do basic diagnostics on the ff without having to buy 2 licenses.....

All depends if I want to "play" with the settings on the ff..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Being a new IID convert and knowing how particular and into the mechanics of your RR that you are Mark, I couldn't recommend the IID tool highly enough. The non BT version will also plug into and display things on a laptop. That said, you very quickly get used to reading the diagnostics and operating the tool via the aforementioned "dash panel" (basically where your fuel range, time, average fuel consumption etc are displayed below the odometer and rev counter).

Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up

I run mine with the IID plugged in, just to keep an eye on the live values sometimes. Nice to see what some "known good" values are, which may help in the future with running issues and diagnostic purposes.
Though that may make me quite sad Embarassed

So you can order the none BT model and this will work with full display screens on a windows based laptop as well as using the readout on the dash panel?
Was pondering on the BT model, but that has got me thinking now.

Yes but from what I can determine the older iid can only be configured for one type of LR. The bt iid can be used across the range Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Hi guys,
Sorry for the late reply - not been on the board often lately. Too much work... Crying or Very sad

I will quote myself from the PM I just wrote nmj in response to the same question (should have checked here first Rolling Eyes ):

The non-BT and BT models are not the same internally. We changed our VIN-Lock policy last year to allow the use of standard diagnostic functions on any LR (see below or post 3 in the 2013 Announcements thread) but the regular IIDTool only has enough memory for one model type (i.e. early L322 -05, or 06-09). The BT has the same hardware as the upcoming Pro and can be used on any LR we cover (which will be all except the P38 RR in not too long). Standard diagnostic functions are included while enhanced functions require an additional VIN license.

HTH,
Steve

We are separating the diagnostic functionality into two categories: standard functions and enhanced functions.

The standard functions will include all regular diagnostic functions:

• fault read / clear
• live values
• control outputs
• service / test functions

Enhanced functions will include everything else:

• Component and system calibration (SAS, EAS)
• CCF editing
• ECU flashing
• Advanced functions including backup / restore, save profiles
• Convenience features (A new concept that will be disclosed a bit later)

All standard functions will not be VIN locked. Enhanced functions will remain VIN locked. Additional VIN licenses will continue to be available at nominal cost.
