FSR- symptons of failure

Wondering if you guys can help.

i have read on hear about changing the FSR due to battery issues etc.

What i would like to know is what are the symptoms of the FSR failing or having failed? i believe it controls fan speed, high resistance to allow low fan speed, resistance reduced to allow fan to increase speed.

So if its on its way out does it still work to some degree or does it fail completely - ie no fan.

my 10MY 3.6 seems to have very little fan output at low speeds but i can feel in increase when i turn it up, but not as much 'wind' comes out as from previous models when on full fan speed setting. would this be consistent with the FSR degrading? Cheers

James

From what I know it either works or it doesn't.

Symptoms:

fans on all the time
or
no fans
and/or
battery drain

You should be able to test by turning fans up to full manually. If no fans then likely the FSR has run its course. .

Hi mate - my FSR failed about a month ago, I only noticed when the fans would only blow to about half strength (even though all the lights went on). I noticed as I used to able to hear and feel the fans 'roar' when it was on max and recirc but it went very feeble! Changing the FSR fixed it . Btw I didn't have a battery drain problem - it was purely a problem with fan speed 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

thanks Tuts.

vehicles was new to me, but fans werent great. Just changed it and much better performance from them so it seems they do fail into other states rather than just no fans which was my previous understanding same as Joes Cheers

I'll add "poor/feeble" fans to my list of symptoms next time Thumbs Up .
