IIDTool the gadget that keeps on giving.

With help from Patrick (Gap) I successfully programmed a blank key bought from Dan using the IIDTool to operate my car.
Thats another wallet busting trip to the stealers saved. Thumbs Up Geoff

Not really a write up:

I used a Beta version of the software which just required you to follow instructions which were very simple, press and hold "unlock" on the new key when prompted a few chirps of the horn and a bong from the dash - job done Thumbs Up
I didn't even follow the simple instructions properly but I have been using the newly programmed key all day with no problems.

The only thing is you must have a blank key, the ones bought on eBay have generally been used and are therefore unsuitable - apparently you can't unmake an omelette. Geoff

I can't remember, I bought it off Dan (Duckworths) best to ask him, buying from him was useful in a couple of ways, I got a decent price and as a forum member I didn't need to produce 3 forms of identification which my local stealer did.

I think JLR offer an exchange scheme for if your old key is damaged Whistle but I don't know how it works.

Then of course I needed a blade and the said blade cutting to match the original, just the blanks are £39 from JLR and your local Timsons wont cut blanks they don't supply - I was lucky they had something that would do and just charged me 8 quid to supply it and cut a copy my existing key onto it - its not ideal though as although it fits it doesn't secure in the key fob but it does work the lock..

Original blade above Timpson copy. Geoff
