Actually, car is not normally there, but we had guests this weekend and I needed to give them as wide a berth as possible to get in and out of the drive.

Journey started in a LR2B at 16 and has incl. just about every Land Rover, Disco, RRS and Range Rover Vehicle owned or driven, I even worked for the company when it was owned by BAe - It must be a madness!!! because to add to my 4.4 TDV8 Westminister In Baltic Blue I bought a second L322 as a commuter bus, TD6 2004 Vogue in Oslo Blue with cream leather now both gone replaced with what could turn out to be my biggest mistake. Maybe a silly question but why would you still keep an 04 when it is pretty much identical to your 2012 but the 2012 is superior in everything? I mean, when do you decide to take an 04 out instead of your 2012?

My contrast is the L322 in monte carlo blue and a BMW 530 d in black ~ both same interior colours!

After driving 4x4 the car feels like you are dragging your on the road!

Hi Sql, I commute 114 miles each day and we enjoy a bit of touring for our Hols. For many years my commuter buses have clocked up ridiculous miles and cost a bit in more frequent servicing and lost value come resale. My 12 Westminster is a dream to drive and as a run out model I wish to keep it many years and use it for holidays and high days.
My 04 was bought very reasonably and is my commuter bus, I can carry out my own maintenance and apply my own modifications, I've turned it from a 25 mpg slug to a 30mpg super slug with a few simple engine mods (egr blanking and improved breathing) by judicious use of eBay I have modernised the exterior of the old girl to the point that non Range Rover experts think i am driving the same car, my step daughter has to ask is this the old or new RR we are going out in today.
Being honest the Vogue seats in the 04 are more comfortable than the 2012. Also my 04 is the fishing wagon and if my bivvy is blown away I can sleep in the back at a push, it's also an occasional seat down removals van and has no fear of newly gritted roads or supermarket car parks. It is the wagon of choice for moving oldies who rattle their walking sticks against the interior and when I replace my Lab with another wet and muddy Lab pup this will be his limo.
Yes the Westminster is a little extravagant but combined they still worked out cheaper than a RR405 or a new Big Evoque RRS.
I will admit that the Evoque my wife drives should not be wearing a Range Rover badge it is something else but not a Range Rover and would be the first to go come vehicle rationalisation time.
I will add now the 04 is fettled it is on dodgy ground as the next project might arise and the RR could provide the funding!!

Thanks for detailed answer Montys 4x4.

You have nice set of cars there, I guess it does make sense to have both in order to keep miles low on the newer machine. But at the same time I think if it was me, I'd probably go for something different for weekend and holiday use just as I did when I had and old beater Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 for daily commute and tough use situations and 911 turbo for fun trips.

But to each his own I guess!
