Well think about it long and hard....we already know that the Jaguar XJ and the new RR will share the same platform (Floor pan).

the RR will obviously need taller suspension struts or different subframes but it will carry on the monocoque theme. So that should give us the base to work up from. Now, I've driven the new XJ for a couple of days and comparing it to the older XJ's it is a complete revolution. Gone is that wafty magic carpet kind of feel and very much there is a full on driver's car.

Also consider the Jag XF and how many awards it's won. It's so damn good that I bought one brand new for SWMBO, the ONLY new car I have ever bought. Compare that with its rivals like the Audi A5 and the Merc CL, neither of which sell in such numbers. The JLR group are going to capitalise on that for sure and hopefully carry over as much of the good stuff as possible.


Back to the XJ then. Look a the internal styling like the wrap around wooden dash. Does it remind you of a posh wooden speedboat at all??? Think 1960's Riva.
Comfort, well it's an XJ for sure but you could do 500 miles in one and get out without even a crease in your shirt.
Technology is right up there with the best and I really hope LR ditch the Harmon Kardon junk in favour of the B&O that Jag use. Awesome is too mild a word. Yes, we all have a favourite track which needs winding up and the B&O exceeds all expectations.
Styling is something which Jag have got bang on the money recently. Smooth lines rather than the chiseled look of the BMW so I would expect this to carry over to the new RR.
Capability is something which will be right up there too. It's a RR after all. We know the power unit will be a 4.4 TDV8 and the box will be an 8 speed dual clutch affair. The 4WD will be just as capable for sure.

Without doubt, whatever you sketch on top of the floorpan, it's gonna be a really nice place to be. Stylish, comfy, very functional and, above all, it will remain the standard by which all others are judged.

Jag don't use B&O Hifi do they, I thought it was the British company B&W - Bowers and Wilkins which is even better than B&O 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
