white smoke is normally down to water , maybe condensation in the exhaust...blue'ish smoke is oil burning. ... - .- -.

It looks white to me, but I was looking at it through the mirrors. Could the lower than expected mpg be linked? I got 25 today on a steady motorway run |

25 sounds normal at 70/80 mph...it also all depends how you drive... ... - .- -.

Are you sure it was 'white' as that would be condensation. Reset your fuel computer on a steady 60/70mph run and you should see about 30-33, this will drop to about 25-27 over urban driving. If it was at night, you are seeing diesel smoke in the headlights of others, check your hoses as pointed out, it's likely one has a small tear/hole. NIce and easy to fix!

No, only when accelerating hard. Also starts and runs smoothly with no lack of power |

Easy to check and rule in/out the top hoses they come off with a screwdriver on 5 mins, no special skills required. Have a look in the wiki, there is a how to. |

The passenger side one comes off easy enough, but getting the replacement one back on ..... you just can't get the leverage easily |

Well it's back from the garage and all seems good. They put some cleaner in it to clean the injectors and it seems to have done the trick. |
