Good work Ryan!!

Looking forward to seeing how you get on - I've high hopes for these as the standard 6w reversing lamps are rubbish! 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black

Last night I tried both sample LED reverse bulbs that were being considered for sale by Advanced Factors.

Both types of bulb fit the L322 reverse bulb holder/ connector perfectly well. The pins on both sample bulbs are set correctly and both bulbs illuminated with no errors displayed once connected to the bulb holder.

However, both bulbs appear to be too long to be housed within an unmodified reverse light assembly/ casing. They both fit in well, reference their diameter, although they both appear to be too long to enable the bulb holder to be locked in place on the reverse light cluster when the reverse light unit is 'put back together'.

OE halogen bulb length is approx 32cms long (as pictured):

LED Sample A (pictured below). Of the 2 samples, this seems but a hairs breadth from being the correct length to fit at approx. 37cms long (& so the reverse light unit seemingly will physically take a bulb longer than OE):

LED Sample B (pictured below). Of the 2 sample bulbs, this is definitely too long at approx 45cms:

In summary:

(i) LED bulb Samples A & B both (when illuminated in the uncovered reverse bulb holders) looked crisp, modern and more pleasing on the eye compared with the OE reverse bulb.

(ii) LED Sample A is so close to fitting the reverse light unit without any tweaks to any components, it is frustrating because it must be about 1mm or so too long, unless of course there is a tweak I can be advised to try?

(iii) Uncovered bulb performance demonstrated that Sample A appears to be slightly brighter than the OE reverse bulb.

(iv) Uncovered bulb performance demonstrated that Sample B appears to be slightly brighter than Sample A.

(v) Whilst, if they could both fit into the L322 light cluster, either sample LED bulb would probably offer improved reverse lighting performance over OE bulbs, I would not anticipate that they would have the effect of 'lighting up the road' behind the vehicle so as to significantly improve visibility for the driver during hours of darkness reversing. However, I would anticipate that these sample LED bulbs would make the car more visible to other road users.

Advanced Factors is now to revert to their suppliers with the findings to try and find a suitable plug and play LED reverse bulb because even if the two samples could be DIY tweaked to fit the existing L322 design, it would still obviously restrict the potential customer base if buyers knew they would have to start modifying bulbs before being able to use them.

Thumbs Up

Just heard back from the manufacturers, they can provide a unit 31mm long which is great but it is 6 pieces of 5630SMDs giving 180-190 Lumens, we have something very similar as an interior light replacement, they are good and white but I feel they will only provide a nicer colour reverse light rather than any benefit to beam spread.

So unless anyone wants these ordering with this in mind I am not going any further on this one for now. Paul Redding

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Baltic Blue

Hi Steve

The spread sheet you posted is very useful but I note it is up to 2009. Do you have the same information for 2010-2012 as I am interested in widespread LED replacement for puddles, sides, number plates, boot, footwells etc etc.

I don't think I'm the only one looking at other threads.
