Biggest profile tyre?

aye up guys
After a 3000km journey on crappy Russian roads I experienced 2 wheels needing repairing grrrrr
After 20 something years of driving in the UK and years of off reading I've never ever ever damaged a wheel

So my question is this. To try and save my wheels I was thinking of increasing the tyre profile (if possible) on my standard 20" wheels
Does anybody know what the maximum profile I can use without causing any issues

a few members have put the newer range rover wheels and/or tyres on ..that tyre size is 255 55 20 and most report a more comfortable ride.. ... - .- -.

I was thinking about 19's but wasn't 100% sure if they would fit over the brembos

the newer 19'' do but the old ones wont..i'm sure there stalk of this here somewhere..
