2011 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
Santoini Overfinch Full Exterior Detail (Picture Heavy)

Thought I would post this topic as was doing a full exterior detail on the FF & have never taken before, during & after pictures so thought I'd show you all my methods of keeping the FF in great condition

Hope you all enjoy & let me know what you think, if theres anyway I could better my ways Thumbs Up

Car as is! dirty, salty & grimy good winter Scottish roads for you:

First was to attack the Olympus alloys with AM Wheels from AMDetails & left for a few minutes:

New power washer, Nilfisk C110 was on offer at Argos for £40 so had to get it! also got the metal lance off eBay:

Wheels rinsed off & surprisingly near enough all of the salt & dirt was removed:

All small crevices, grill & door jams sprayed with APC and agitated with small brush:

Wheels were now sprayed with Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Gel, let for a few minutes and agitated with various brushes, arches were also clean at this stage using APC & large brushes:

Wheels completely rinsed off, look amazing:

Snow foam lance prepared with GTechniq W4:

Foamed & let to dwell for around 10 minutes: (best part of the whole process)

Car rinsed now on to the washing, new lambswool mitt & Chemical Guys Wonder Wash, 2 bucket method was applied both with grit guards:

Car fully rinsed:

On to the Tar & Glue remover, losts coming off:

Next stage (which I never got any pictures of) fallout remover IronX

RR was brought inside the workshop & fully dried using Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth & the Sidekick Blaster:

As I had the FF on the ramp I took the advantage of this and gave it an oil change including engine flush & fuel treatment, 9.5l of oil later was all good:

Cool little Overfinch accents in the grill:

All paintwork & glass was decontaminated using clay with water & a small amount of QD:

Worst amount was on the rear bumper, small bits of plasti-dip also:

On to the polishing, went with Megs G220v2 DA, Chemical Guys backing plate, orange medium Hex Logic pad & Gtechniq P1 composite:

Also used the 3inch orange medium pad to get in to the smaller areas of the car i.e bumpers & wings:

RR fully polished: (no 50/50s as paint wasn't actually that bad & time was pressing on & Rain Off on windows, not smearing)

Then sealed with Poor Boys Black Hole (no pictures)

2 coats of Swissvax Oynx which I think it gives the paintwork a glossy look and flakes tons of POP!:

All glass was treated with Chemicals Guys Rain Off which is amazing in the wet, rain just slides clean off the windows/windscreen:

Vehicle was raised & arches were dressed with Chemical Guys Silk Shine Dressing:

Tyres & all trims were dressed with GTechniq T1:

FINISHED! after nearly 9 hours of hard graft the Range is immaculate, outside for some pictures: (night shots don't do it justice)

Into the City Centre for some well deserved food, let me know what you guys think Thumbs Up :

Your car is very smart Wiggins, the wheels and exhausts in particular.

An owner could probably buy 12 months LR Aprroved Extended Warranty & roadside assist with the amount those detailing products must have cost Laughing

If that really was you doing all that and in one go then you must have the patience of a saint... and an understanding family Laughing

Realisitically, how long does the wheel arch silk shine dressing last before they look back to their grim best?

Thumbs Up

I'd have been happy with the 'before' picture - mine is usually a lot worse than that this time of year Whistle

Thanks mate, I definitely have an obsession with car cleaning its my weekend hobby

My patience was tried but I got it done eventually, my girlfriend doesn't mind she gets to watch "her programmes" Laughing

The wheel arch Silk Shine is almost totally away from arches but I've done around 100 odd miles since I carried out the detail on Saturday and as the road are a mess just now, in the summer should last between washes Thumbs Up 11 RR Overfinch | Santorini Black | 22" Elara Alloys
