EAS stuck in Motorway mode

First problem with my ffrr that I noticed last night when I came off the motorway was the EAS would not go back to standard height. I pulled into the fuel station and filled up and when I went back into the vehicle and started it up it was still in Motorway Mode. Moving the EAS switch the suspension then adjusted itself to the correct height.

As I know nothing of this system I am unsure where to start checking but was wondering if it could be a speed sensor that is faulty.

No faults are showing on the cluster so any assistance gratefully received.

Have you got any warnings in the driver's info screen or an "i" icon come up? Often the first line of a fix is to switch off the ignition and leave the car for 5 minutes with no power, then switch back on again - often the reboot of all the systems clears the fault but logs it in the ECU fault codes log. If you are on the north side of Glasgow and continue to have EAS problems I know a non franchise specialist out at Larbert who is very familiar with the problems of Land Rover EAS systems from the Disco2 system right through P38A (his speciality) to today's systems 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

your FFRR should still be in motorway mode..i did this the other day and i'm pretty sure mine stayed like that until we came off the motorway and travelled about 5 miles at 40 mph and then it went up to standard. ... - .- -.

From the handbook:-

"The motorway height setting is activated
automatically when the electronic air
suspension system detects the vehicle being
driven at more than 60 mph (100 km/h), for
more than 30 seconds.
When the system detects that the vehicle speed
has fallen below 45 mph (70 km/h) for more
than one minute, the vehicle automatically rises
to the standard height setting. If the vehicle
comes to rest while still at motorway height, the
vehicle will not rise unnecessarily."

Just back from a run up the motorway and once again I had to manually change it onto standard height after over 5 minutes of driving at 25-30mph.

Tim Can you post up the details of the chap in Larbert or if not, can you pm them to me please.

Cheers

John Thumbs Up

Here you are, George Maclay is the proprietor and 2nd in command is Bobby.
http://www.gemm4x4.co.uk

The location is in the small industrial estate beside the rialway viduct at Larbert, directly across the valley from the Falkirk Wheel!

The email addy on that link no longer works - use workshop@GEMM4x4.co.uk If you use streetmap.co.uk or one of the other postcode locator maps then the PC shows the wrong location! GEMM is on the other side of the railway tracks to the arrow on the map - ie coming off the A9/Stirling Road at Camelon DON'T go under the railway viaduct, go up the rough lane on the left before the viaduct, past the steel stockholders and you will see LOTS of wrecked and sad Land Rovers, keep going right to the end of the lane where you will find a Land Rover Graveyard! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Ah that was Wendy, the new recruit! The other person who could help you would be Bobby, the No2 at GEMM. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

john,

has your car had the software upgrade do you know, i had my EAS went into fault mode and had the compressor change and software upgrade done. Before i had this done the motorway setting would set and come out to normal very soon after going below 60. however new software and it will remain in motorway setting for a good few miles. it seems as though the car would confirm you were just not in a traffic jam 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

Andy, thanks for your reply.

I haven't a clue as to whether its had any software upgrades, I only bought it 4 weeks ago and excluding the last service which the vendor had done by his local cowboy it was always LR serviced. I spoke to the parts department at Shields in Glasgow and he put my chassis number into the computer and told me there were no outstanding recalls for this vehicle, but whether that includes software I am unsure.

No faults are showing on the dash so I am hoping it's an easy fix

dont think its an up grade recall
but i think it was done at cost if i remember. warenty covered it so didnt pay much attention may be worth asking if there is an upgrade even if you have to pay for it

some dealers do it foc, Guava guildford do

i would say ask it cant hurt 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

I was out in the RR today and when I left the motorway the EAS eventually did go back to standard, but that was after I stopped at traffic lights for about 40 seconds and then drove another five minutes. As Alex has said it could be a simple software update that is required.

I have it booked in to GEMM on Tuesday so will update the post once I have some answers
