Following on from this thread, I went through the 'Build' menu on the LR website to compare against my one year old L405.

I added a lot of extras on the current one and it came in at just under £95k. Feb 2014.

Today, the same spec. is a shade under £103k. an increase of more than 8%.

If the data/build is correct, then it's a useful offset against depreciation I hope.

In theory, three years x 8+% compounded is 10%.

So the gap could therefore be even wider unless some ratio of new value carries through.

A couple of 'Sport' owners I know believe they have L405 quality vehicles for many £££££'s less. True or not?

Minefield ahead? Twisted Evil

Yes and I'm sure they also believe they are driving a Range Rover!

Sport interior quality is a step down (and there's room for improvement in the proper one), but it's not wildly different underneath.

Sport is bound to be more popular as it's cheaper (much cheaper to lease, which is surely the key criteria for most).

Leasing prices are always a good indicator of the expected residuals, so maybe its thought that the Sport will perform better??

I wouldn't rule another one out Whistle

Just been checking autotrader. FFRR's and Sports of around 2006/7 are similarly priced. That would suggest a sport holds a bit more of its value for longer. I'll bet it's the same for the newer models as well. Previously..

If the L405 is nudging 3 years old, when and in what guise will 'facelift/ revisions" take place?

If the delivery times are coming down when do you think dealers will begin to discount new cars? I am being told that my 12 month old car is only going to be worth £64k in April after covering 14,000 miles and costing almost £80k in Feb 2014. I can't get a penny off a new one.

Yes, new cars are a complete waste of money. I should have kept my L322! Very Happy

Well it's been nice for owners/speculators while it lasted... interesting that late/lo miles L322s still aren't really budging though.

Could be worse though... circa £80k loss in a year/8k miles on this Shocked good old 7er depreciation Laughing

This was the reason for my original question... A customer of mine has a 2014 11k miles 3.0 Vogue with extras £83k new and has been told by dealer its got a value of £63k... The year before it was a £5k loss! MASSIVE difference!!!
