any ideas on what this is ?

hi, I have a my15 l405 vogue and ive noticed that on the inside rear o/s door there is a rubber/plastic bung/knob near the bottom of the door which sticks out approx. 4cms, on the other rear n/s door there is a flat rubber bung. see photos - I have no idea what they are for and I do not understand why o/s sticks out 4cms and n/s is flat
any ideas ? thx

I believe it's to do with the soft close mechanism which Vogue derivatives do not have as standard.

Had a look at one at the dealer's and the bump stops, like the one on your RH door, were fitted to both rear doors but not the fronts.
