Hi Guys. Well after much deliberation on here about which model to buy, last November i bought a 59 plate 5.0SC. What an amazing car. Anyone contemplating it, just do it - you will not regret it. Best car that i have ever owned. Anyway the last few months have gone without any problems - until today!

This morning i start up the car and there is the yellow triangle alert. Normally i see this for insufficient washer fluid but this time it is saying that i will have restricted power. Sure enough the car goes, but it doesn't want to rev. I travel to work (15 miles) much slower than normal and after a while the yellow triangle goes. The dash is showing no error faults or alerts but still there power is down. I cruise on the motorway at 70mph and the car seems fine until you ask it for revs.

So any ideas guys what this could be before taking a day out to take it to the dealers?

Last night the car was fine and all it did was arrive home, lock it and then this morning the alert came on when i first started it. is there a way of "rebooting" it in case its just an electrical gremlin?

Rebooting = disconnect the battery for 30 mins

After that you need some kind of fault reader - like an IID tool to figure out what the problem is.

A well known issue Sir. Probably the Throttle Body, mine had one under warranty as did my Wife's S Type R (4.2 S/C) and an XKR Convertible I had a while back.

Diagnostics can pick this one up from the fault codes so it's easy to tell.

^ No, but I can find out. Mine was warranty.

UPDATE

After going back to the car that day after work, I started it and it was ok. It has been ok since with no further error messages. All I did was park it for the day and lock it. Strange!

Yep, mine was like that. Fine for a while and then crapped itself at the most in-opportune moment. Strongly recommend you get the fault codes read.
