I know things are very difficult to diagnose without seeing or listening to. But as the title says I have a droning humming sound from I think the front. There is no vibration through car . It does this at speeds between about 10 to 40 mph. It only lasts a few seconds and appears erratically. Am I right in thinking there was a front diff recall problem.

The cats can drone if they fail internally, give then a good whack with your fist and see if they rattle, one of mine sings to me now and then.... just something to check...

Have a look at you front prop to diff, if it looks just like this then the update has been done..

What happens if you drive straight then turn the steering sharp in one direction or the other, does the noise increase or stay the same?
