Not having used a lathe just making the cube amazed me

Pretty cool Nice coffee table point of interest and an interesting use of the 3 jaw!!

Reminds me (rather tenuously) of a trade test one of my old charge hands had me do
Using a drill and a series of files create a 1" square hole in a 1" thick block of aluminium and then using a hacksaw and files create a 1" dia disc / cylinder from another 1" thick aluminium block.

They were all about the skilled use of hand tools but the bit everyone focused on, or the "TEST" if you like, was to drop the disc / cylinder into the square hole so there were no gaps

I didn't really understand why he had me do it at the time as I was serving an apprenticeship as a spark but then I also didn't realise just how much he'd taught me

Ok I need to buy a lathe and a lot of metal - this is so much better than work  2008 TDV8

Seen several of these years ago at work when I was an apprentice , used to be a skill test for the apprentice turners , never seen a video of the process so quite impressive really

Time to get my lathe out of the store room  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
