The boy Gideon will be wanting his £500 off me this month for another year of potholed motoring. Thing is, I don't seem to have had a reminder. With the old system, they sent you a reminder about 6 weeks beforehand with a code to use, go online, click click and job done, new disc in the post 10 days or so later. As I'm away from late July to mid August, I'd like to be legal before I go. So forum pals, what's the story, anyone ou there know?

Hi, My Tax is due the end of this month (July) and the reminder was delivered yesterday (6/7/15), so yours probably won't be far behind. Hope this helps.

I didn't get a reminder, which I rely on, so got hit with a £40 fine - I also had to pay the back VED. When I rang it was explained to me the reminders are a courtesy not a requirement and the only requirement is to make sure your vehicle is either taxed or SORNed. Geoff

Put it on a direct debit and you don't need the reminders.

Out of the millions they send out a few are bound to get lost by Royal Mail.

£500 of my finest cash for car tax was one of the reasons I sadly had to get rid of my 3.6 TDV8 VSE. I've just seen this:
"New VED bands for new cars to be introduced from 2017, pegged to emissions - 95% of car owners will pay £140 a year"

How much are they going to want to rob the folk on here who just want to drive something decent and rewarding
