You can change the wheels for 19" which gives you a greater choice of tyres, more off road orientated.

Went to a fireworks display 2 years ago, pi-$$ed down all day, continued to pi-$$ down during the evening and the organisers parked us all on a nice grassy field.

Also had to tow a full sprinter sized van off a grassy playing field behind our house last winter - some tool was doing a house removal and got it stuck up to its axles in mud due to weather and weight of contents, some old boy tried pulling it out with something like a CRV and couldn't budge it, didn't look like it was full 4x4 from the wheel behaviour and he even had 2 wheels on a pavement.

To be honest any old front wheel drive vehicle is capable on wet grass and shallow mud with suitable tyres and someone who can drive. But the Range Rover is very very capable because of its sophisticated traction control system and its chassis designed for extreme off roading in terms of approach angles, ground clearance and suspension travel. |

I shoot so I use mine off-road every winter. I had a 4.2S/C. It was always on road tyres. I only got it stuck once which was my fault not the car's. |

Mine doesn't worry about muddy fields or lanes. Just happily gets on with it. Got treated to a day out at Eastnor and got to play in some severe conditions with just he standard tyres on. By the end we were joking, if there was a little jolt, "oops, nearly spilt my Pimms" |

Many thanks guys. Very much appreciated !! I had a TDV8 with the terrain response or whatever it is called and just did not find it soo good off road as the P38. The TDV8 never got stuck but it will take some getting used to in relation to the car wanting to deal with things in it's own way.
