I mean don't get me wrong, i can live with out the feature, but seeing as everything else works, and it had a god awful stick on summit replacement on there it seemed a shame not to get it working.

It;s like the TV, who actually 'needs' a TV in a car, but it was nice to get it working.

I would not be able to function at night without mine, I suffer from an eye condition that has left me with a cataract in my right eye. But it's a clear one, so there is no milky film, I just suffer from extreme glare, especially at night. Best way to describe the symptoms are, you used to be able to a fiberglass type wad that you put over your christmas tree to diffuse the lights and make it really pretty , now every day I suffer from the same effect, and I can't turn it off , and as my condition also makes me prone to Glaucoma, so the quaks are reluctant to operate while I can sill function

Night driving in the Landcruiser a few years ago was becoming at best difficult, and in reality very painful, especially when some git would sit on my bumper at night with an HID conversion on non leveling lights, this would cause my eye to water and me to pull over. Since I have told my old employer to stick the Landcruiser where the sun don't shine, and gone it alone, with a ffrr, night driving is not only easier, it is a pleasure. Apart from the who's coming towards me with their main beam on, but I can get them back

The bit that I really like about the system is you just can't notice it working, and I hope that mine continues that way, but I know it's a ffrr and it will have a fit one day  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

That's a decent price. I paid about 80 quid more when SWMBO broke one of mine a few years back.

They work on the LIN bus BTW. The main optical sensor is on the interior mirror and it controls the door mirrors via the LIN which is addressed rather than a straight 12v On or OFF. Think of it as a low speed version of the CAN bus and you're close enough. I did quite a bit of research on this when I looked at the TrailAir system from Land Rover. That replaces the interior mirror with a unit which has a built in screen for the reverse camera but the replacement does not have the LIN connectivity which was a deal breaker for me.

I measured the voltage and it seemed to be 1.2v when dimmed.

It has to be the pattern mirrors though, as they don't work on either side, whereas the known good one works both sides.

Yeah retail price with VAT is about £180, but the dealer said they have a lot of margin for discounting the mirrors. I buy a fair amount of stuff from them so get quite good discounts.

genuine Mirror works perfectly. Took the two fault ones back to Island 4x4, they were surprised as they've never had any back before.
