hi,

i tried to search for a solution but could not find something that describes my problems.
i was driving on highway today when the cd changer stopped working.
the button is now gray and i have these symptoms:

- no radio, no sound
- cd option gray, charger is powered, magazin working
- television, sound working but due its analogue just noise
- handsfree, sound, no mic
- when i get news on radio, radio works all of a sudden, just for news
- no navigation sound, just some weird digital noises

any idea where to start finding the problem?

after checking all fuses with no battery connection
the problem disappeared

panic is gone
disconnecting the battery helped!

a battery re-connect reboots the ecu's and helps to solve some problems...have you any water ingress in the rear near side cubby hole.. ... - .- -.

Did you disconnect both terminals?

I'm having some 'interesting' gremlins with my AV system since the BT module packed in. Possibly? compounded by a flat battery (prob caused by said BT Module)

Read somewhere that when the battery is fully disconnected by touching both leads together will reset all the ECUs and force a system check upon connection and ignition on...

However I don't have the code for the radio (helpfully not provided when I brought the RR) is there one? (2005 (05) Vogue SE) Denso head unit.

Also kinda concerned that said 'full' reset will cause other issues? Have read about windows, EAS, alarm etc etc playing up after the battery has been disconnected....

Mine didn't appear to need a code when i replaced the battery. I suspect they're vin coded to the vehicle like Peugeot/Citroen's.

Touching the disconnected battery leads together, doesn't restart the ECU's it just ensures any residual current left in them is discharged (from internal capacitors), so you're just making doubly sure the ECU's are powered down. I doubt it's really essential, just a battery disconnect should do it the vast majority of the time.

Your alarm will likely go of if it was armed when you disconnect the battery, but you just disarm it by using the remote or key in the ignition.

You'll probably have to manually open and close the windows and sunroof so they can re-learn their closed positions. Until you do that the one touch function wont work. It's not big hassle to do.

i did only disconnect the negative lead.
don't forget to turn the steering wheel full from left/right and back
to adjust sensors.
