Yeah I've recicved a few PM's and been trying to do some research when I've had time, as ideally I don't want to fork out £200-300 for an item which may be a different region or not work at all.
So what's the difference between a 'AH42-19C063-AE' unit and a one which ends in AF, AH, AC??

If theres no difference, why the price variations? some are like £150 dearer?

They have different frequencies and also coding formats. only one or two types work in the UK IIRC.

ere-750 surely if you are buying one off someone on the forum that has being using it on their car then it would work for you too? or am i missing something ?

For example, someone on the forum has a functioning unit for sale & resides in Germany, America or somewhere in Asia we know that they use different frequencies, so no use to anyone in the UK.

It is a working unit, from someone on the forum, but it wouldn't work for me. I hope that helps.

Down the page there is a table showing the formats used throughout the world. Europe uses DVB-T. As I understand this, if the transmission is in the same format then, provided the decoder is compatible, it will not matter which country the decoder comes from.

UK transmits in DVB-T for SD and DVB-T2 for HD. As the early touchscreens (not sure of the later ones) aren't HD then the DVB-T transmissions should work in the UK with a decoder that has worked previously in a FF from a country using DVB-T.

I'd read that and personally, didn't find it benefited my knowledge of range rover tv tuners. To be honest, a better understanding would be gained from reading about PAL, SECAM and NTSC - but it's beyond the scope of this topic.

*Sigh* PAL and NTSC may be analogue terms, but since many of their specs carried over into digital transmission in terms of frame dimension and frame rates etc, the compatibility issues haven't gone away. Hence Pal Digital, NTSC digital.
Further proving, why the foreign units are not compatible with our vehicles, the signals are still different 50Hz, 60Hz etc. If it was as easy as you make out, we'd have a universal standard.

If that's the case there's a couple for sale from UK forum members on sale on the forum? Me included, are one of those no good?

Another important part is to check if your country is using mpeg2 or mpeg4. Ffrr digital hybrid tuners only work with mpeg2.
