Can be transferred to any vehicle you wish when you pay the £80 fee, then it will be in your name.

Do it online and you can automatically put it onto the car that you are changing it to .... That's what I did when I did the opposite taking my plate off and because I had the original plates of the car the DVLA allowed me to swap them over there and then ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

Use whatever means available that does not involve actually sending stuff to or talking to DVLA. they are the most unhelpful organisation in the world.

Full of robots!!

If you can do it on line then do so.

I took my personal off an old FF and put it on the wifes car but it went into retention between the two. I could not do that on line. Total f Censored g knightmare dealing with some of the the plebs at DVLA. They are never wrong (even when they are) they don't make mistakes (even when they do) and their system is so inflexible. Oh and they are damn rude too. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

The systems have all been updated in the last few months so you can pretty much do it all online now. Whether you would have to wait for a retention cert between taking it off and putting it on the new car I'm not sure. But i recently put my plate on the new FF online. You get a slip straight away to print out saying you can fit the plates to the new car, then the V5 arrives 3 days later (presumably so fast as there are no people involved on their end, except for possibly envelope licking) There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Heres a question related to this,

You have bought a CAT C.

You dont have a V5 or the new owners part.

If you scrap the car is there anyway to keep the plate? Is it easiest to just apply for a V5C knowing that you wont actually get one without the car being VIC'd and then MOT'd?

It has been RFL'd and MOT'd in the last 18months so thats not an issue. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
