Release lever on detachable tow bar


I dismantled the tow bar and wire brushed it down for painting before winter. I was a bit enthusiastic and have broken the wee metal lever (totally corroded and lighter metal than bar) at the back of the detachable swan neck tow bar. I have looked at pics and it is called the release lever.

The swan goes back in and it locks fine with no movement. And it comes out fine with unlocking.

I presume the ability of the bar to tow is not impeded by this break..... Embarassed

It pops out when it engages so it's there for a reason. I'd get it checked out with Westfalia before towing.

It has probably corroded in the 'out' position as its been in place for a few years.

Will get someone to have a look.

I have to pull the lever outwards in mine sometimes as the rotating knob doesn't always turn fully. It engages with the receiver then.
