You should have a light which comes on in the dash display when you first turn the ignition (bottom left corner, yellow - looks like a cross section of a tyre) - if it comes on with all the other lights then goes out after a couple of seconds once you have started the car - then you have and everything should be all ok - if the pressures are low on any particular tyre (including spare) the light will stay on and you will also get a message which tyre is low on pressure on the dash message display.

Don't forget though, if you have a slow leak it won't pick that up. Has to be a fairly quick reduction in pressure.

You'll still need to do the manual method now and again. Wink

How do they work??. The one's on our Mini use the abs sensors to detect of one wheel is dragging more than the others, and it seems pretty good at detecting a small drop in pressure. I presumed that if it also monitors the spare it must use some other hocus pocus Very Happy Apologies if i've posted this on my phone and it contains strange spelling and punctuation.. i just can't be bothered to correct it Very Happy

Each valve on the wheel is connected to a sensor of one kind or another which fits inside the wheel / tyre - it is all part of the same unit.

Within the proximity of each wheel is another sensor which picks up the signal from the sensor on the wheel and hey presto - thats how you know if you have a low pressure etc.

Sorry - i don't know the exact technical terms / details but its quite simple really.

Edit - yes (what Thrasher said - wireless trancievers etc.) Thumbs Up

If you have it, the MID unit will have a screen for it, and there is also a button/indicator on the centre console. It is not standard on any RR, it is a factory fit option. Land Rover Addict

Erm ........

.... you could always let down one of the tyres and see whether anything crops up on the dash display Thumbs Up

Paul

(BTW I had to have all of mine replaced under warranty owing to corrosion of the valve stems. The replacement stems appeared to have a protective coating on them)

Hmmmm. I have no button, or screen. But i do have a little warning light that looks like a cross section of a tyre with a warning triangle in the middle. It comes on with the ignition for a few seconds. Apologies if i've posted this on my phone and it contains strange spelling and punctuation.. i just can't be bothered to correct it Very Happy
