5 weeks !!!

Booked car in for small piece of warranty work at local main stealers.

5 WEEKS!!!!! is the soonest they can fit it in. Ridiculous. Evil or Very Mad Censored

Don't know what other dealerships/areas around the country are like but me thinks there needs to be more LR dealers in the north west to make them pull their socks up in the face of competition.

I had something like this with Marshalls in Cambridge. Safety recall on the L405 (door catch). Phoned and was quoted a month. That was if I was dropping off and didn't need a loan car. If I wanted the car picking up, it was more like two months. I booked for a month's time.

In the end, I worked out that I was going to be in the area earlier. I called the garage on the day and said I could drop it off now if they had any cancellations. They happily took it in and had it ready for the next day (which suited me perfectly).

The service chap told me that they never had cancellations but they usually had loads of "booked but no shows" so he could always slip someone in if he needed to. Particularly if they normally look after the car.

TL:DR
Try calling in the morning and offering to drop it off at short notice. You might well get lucky.

England 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

Mine was booked in at Chester for the alloy wheels to be powder coated etc. The earliest date they could give me with a loan car was six weeks (the week before Christmas) I opted to go ahead without a loan car as the wait was only four weeks (ONLY Big Cry ) and had it booked in for the beginning of this month. Only problem was they completely forgot about the booking and me and didn't show up.

I wasn't best pleased when I found out that the guy in Service who'd made the arrangements was off on leave and no one else knew where he'd booked the car into (an outside specialist as they don't powder coat in-house).

In the event, I decided to replace the car and the new dealership have agreed to sort the wheels themselves, although I'm sure this was factored into the part ex offer.

I was and am disappointed with what happened at Chester but I don't blame the service staff entirely. My own view for what it's worth is that Land Rover have expanded sales at a tremendous rate and have put resources into sales but not into the Service Departments, which seem to be running flat out all of the time.

For me I strongly believe we need other North West Dealers, Warrington would seem pretty well located but I'm sure others would want them in other locations. Come on Land Rover....we know you are watching Thumbs Up

Yep warrington works for me!! Thumbs Up

Of course the dealerships are doing what pretty much any business does - ramp up sales and "eventually" ramp up after sales support if they have to. While aftersales support can be a profit centre for a business it is also a big cost. According to a service desk rep where I go, they have actually reduced their front line staff on the desk. I'm inclined to believe them given the time it takes when I call them for reception to put you through. (no doubt some middle manager feeling very proud of him/herself got a big tick in their annual appraisal for cutting departmental costs)....but pi**ing customers off.

From a LR perspective, I guess they will do as little as possible until folk start complaining or threaten to go to rival marques or use indies for servicing/repairs.

I've fired a complaint email to LR customer services for all the good it will do. Confused
