condensed front headlight, need help please

hi everyone,

New to this forum and it looks so amazing. Found a lot of useful stuff. I have a question with regards to my Range rover L405.

I took the delivery ( used, 25000 miles) last week. When I looked at the car in the dealership, I saw condensed water fog in both of the front headlights. Asked the dealer to investigate and they said nothing found and explained that the reason is because change in temperature between outside and inside and will be eventually gone. However, today after a good drive in the evening, I found the condensed fog formed again in the headlights. Anyone had similar situation before ? I want to get them replaced from dealer as the car is still under warranty. Any suggestion please ?

Thank you in advance for the help. Really like this community.
Dave

States in handbook that condensation may appear at times, my previous one did it occasionally, my new one had done it once...

Set the headlights to manual and leave them on your next couple of trips. The bulb heats the air inside the case and the condensation goes. It normally appears after vigorous jet washing or if the vehicle has been standing for a while.

At least that what was in the manuals from Mercedes, Saab, Citroen et al. Don't get our FFRR until later today so haven't read that manual yet.

Not heard of it on Rangies. On Astons it is very difficult to shift and can cause the lamp interior to discolour. Keep an eye on it. Not noticed it on my L405.

Thanks everyone for your kind reply.

Now had the vehicle for a week and as for the condensed headlight problem, i noticed that the fog is actually formed after the headlight is switched on after some time driving. For example, after a drive in the evening, the fog is formed for some reason and next morning, the fog disappears. How could this happen? I thought the fog forms as a result of heavy wash or rain, however, now it forms every time the light is on for a while Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Shall I take it back to the dealer to have a look or possible request a change of the front headlights as part of the warranty?

Thanks
Dave

Sounds to me like the seal has gone and water is sitting in the bottom where you can't see it, turn the light on and the heat will evaporate the water and fog up the light... Check that the plastic waterproof cover you remove to change the bulb has been fitted properly as that could be the cause as well... Thumbs Up Pete

Hay lands is right. The seal. You turn on the light and it gets hot, so the air in the housing gets hit, pressure increases and the air escapes through the seal. When the lighters turned off, everything cools, down, pressure now drops, and the moisture is sucked right into the housing making it worse each time. Hopefully a new seal doesn't mean a whole new light assembly. Good luck.
