Thanks for all the pointers. I think a call to the lawyer is next. On a separate note the Range Rover Sport loaner arrived 24 hours later like this:

It stinks of wet dog!

I also noticed that it didn't have a spare wheel LR Customer Service said:-

The replacement vehicle does not come with a spare wheel.
The vehicles are supplied without, and if such an issue should occur then the assist team would attend to you.

I hope this is just an observation and you do not need assistance, but please, if you do have any issues don't hesitate to contact me or a member of the team

It was a battle after initially being told I would get nothing I was then offered £300. I had to provide a receipt that I had spent it already such as a meal or the theatre. I opted for Rioja from Majestic. Finance gave me £1000.

No as my 2013 L405 didn't miss a beat in 13,000 miles (apart from the fuel sloshing noise) so I think I have just got a bad one Big Cry

I do know what you mean. I've had a few issues with dealerships, which made me look at the Q7 brochure but boy is it ugly and too low. The big problem is that very many of us put up without perfection because perfection doesn't really exist Big Cry

Like almost everything in life. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be the best available option. And some days the quality Gods just don't seem to care so the odd lemon gets through. But I agree, it's a real pi55er when it happens to be yours.

Dealer has been testing over the Christmas period (not sure how often) but they can not replicate the fault?!?

LR Tech at my home discussed all sorts of errors and didn't clear down the faults so the dealer could investigate further. I think this is a way to to try and fob me off.

If they do not know what was wrong then they can't fix it I am assuming. Its the fourth time it has failed to start and its intermittent.

I'm sorry to hear you've still got this very annoying issue. I think perhaps time has come to ask them to either replace or to smooth your way into another car.

It may seem a bit of a mad suggestion this but given that most of our cars are very good it just seems the bad ones out there will change hands more frequently as owners wash their hands of them.

However, as we are part of a large dedicated forum wouldn't it benefit the membership if we kept a record of the really bad ones with persistent faults, or where the car has been rejected? In that way we could not only fore-warn prospective new customers of problem cars but it would also liven up Land Rovers response to this type of problem.

I appreciate there would be things to consider and take into account but it's just a thought. Thumbs Up

It is like this in the fatherland. I did this once with an Aston Martin that had 3 times the same fault (ABS fault came up all the time). All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I had a recollection that the LR warranty terms included the three goes rule, but having checked the handbook (2012) yesterday see that it does not say that. Perhaps this was in my 2004 handbook, during the BMW era and has been dropped by Ford/Tata. Only Range Rovers since 1988
