Can't unlock my 2008 4.2 SC

Passenger doors and tailgate open OK, but drivers side stays locked.

This is 2nd time it has happened. 1st time LR breakdown attended and technician took out fuse to module for a while and replaced it. Car opened OK.

This time LR breakdown sent AA man who couldn't get it open. He suggested Body Electrical Control module was dead.

Anyone had any experience of this please?

Thankfully the car still has LR warranty until end of September.

AA have just taken it on a trailer to LR main dealer.

Door latch will be stuck! Locked in the Deadlocked position...

Im surprised LR assist didn’t suggest it was sorted the moment they opened the door! A well known fault on most LR products and well documented here...

If it can’t be tricked into working again that will mean a BIG bill for opening the door up!

Just had call from LR main dealer.

They have had the car since Monday mid-morning.

Looks like the problem is a heavily corroded loom that has broken down.

The parts and labour bill is very high apparently, so they have to get approval from LR warranty team before they order the parts and carry out the work!

Thank God for the warranty! Phew.

Car won't be back until next week or so it seems.

How annoying. I have sold the car and was planning on handing it over on 29 Feb. Now I have to pay £50 for a months tax so I can get it out of the garage and on to my buyer. Have taken my plates off it too.

LR have left me a new Jaguar XE 2.0 diesel in the meantime.

Call from LR main dealer.

Seems damage is caused by water ingress which is magically not covered by LR AUC warranty.

Far from happy.

How can water get in to cause so much damage. It's a world class off-roader so I'd expect it would keep the rain out!

Currently talking to dealer and warranty company.

Any thoughts at all anyone?

If you can't get them to pay and you end up paying yourself, take the car to an auto electrician and get him to repair the damage.

The dealer will not repair, they will only replace and that is where the money goes.... hours and hours of stripping out the car...

I expect a localised repair would be much cheaper and an auto electrician would make it as good as new....

Do you know exactly where the damage is?? if not ask them to show you how it has been water damaged, get as much info from them as possible in case you have to pay and take it somewhere else..

I do hope they will pay though...  Pete
