2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver

Wheel nuts

Firstly apologies if this has been covered before I had a look and couldn't see anything, has anyone fitted the solid alloy wheel nuts? Machined out of one piece of alloy.
Reason for asking is I noticed today I have lost another wheel nut cover!
Just been looking on flee bay and came across them, would include a link but my limited knowledge of computers has hindered me yet again 2004 td6 Zambezi silver

Solid Alloy Wheel Nuts

That is a very misleading description, there is no such thing as a wheel nut made of alloy, it isn't strong enough.... What those sellers are badly describing is a steel wheel nut that's plated with nickel, but doesn't have the flimsy stainless steel cover pressed on top..... Improvement over the originals... possibly, but they will rust eventually like the originals

If you want rust free nuts then they will need to be made from 316 grade / A4 stainless steel, commonly known as Marine grade, and while 304 / A2 is a form of stainless steel it will dull and the is a chance that it might form surface rust. Either way they are 3 - 4 times the price of steel nuts Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I bought these off Ebay.

Made from steel but plated with something similar to zinc. At £44.95 a set (20), when I fit them I will see how long they take to rust. They wont be tightened up with a buzz gun. No stainless caps to swell up.
The solid stainless steel ones from wrington are £220 for a set of 20.

A squirt of something to stop the water getting to them should keep them looking good for a long time.... just thinking that 'Damp Start' might be the best option, as it forms a seal.... but I'd test it on something else first Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
