And maybe the later 6 / 8 speed boxes can be made to talk as well.... and then I do believe that Manual was available on the X5, so I can't see why that couldn't be made to fit..... And although I'd prefer an automatic box, at least with a manual I could leave it in say 4th gear and not have to worry about the   | ||

 3.6 TDV8 towing 5.2te (inc' trailer). The FF did this many many times and the trip included a mile up a 1 in 8 plus several shorter but steeper climbs yet never had to come below 45 (B roads - not motorways - so no run up). No problems at all and compared to the D3 before it chalk & cheese (engine not chassis). Same load, different vehicle 
 Remapped 2.2 Puma 90. With the gearing advantage it's not too bad and economy wise no different to the TDV8 or D3. My driving style got me (according to the OBC) 19 from the TDV6, 20 from the TDV8 and 19 from the Puma (brim to brim). Going by that I reckon the Puma is actually the most economical of them all. TDV6 D3 remapped is great but it aint no TDV8 and for site work you can't beat a Deafner   Just MHO you understand :whistle: Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated  Back in a Defender!! | ||||||||

| miggit Member Since: 12 Jul 2014 Location: Milton Keynes Posts: 3669    | I don't for one minute doubt that the TDV8 ffrr will tow everything that I hook it to.... I just can't afford one, especially with the large Road Fund Tax increase. At least I can get a TDV6 that is with in the same tax bracket as the TD6, and the other consideration is that I only tow for half the distance that I cover, and then I return solo, so the slightly higher MPG from the TDV6 would make a noticeable difference over the year.

 , had a recon valve block installed and another flush and filter..... He recons that the new fluid that I put in dislodged a pocket of crap and this destroyed the valve block
